1.) Tell Us Your Story!
I am very proud that I am a locally owned small business. I have been in Real Estate since 2007 and owned my own firm (Modern Milwaukey Real Estate LLC) since 2016. Although I am a small business, being in real estate enables me to do BIG business, from $2,000 to $2,000,000 homes, I can sell it all. I am also proud that I have trademarked the word and logo Milwaukey. I feel the name and logo have helped me stay relevant when consumers are looking for a local Agent.
My goal is to connect home sellers and buyers and lead them to closing. I feel a home purchase/sale is one of the biggest decisions a person can make and am honored I can help.
2.) What does the future hold for your organization?
I have never planned to have many offices or 100 Realtors under me in my Firm. But now as my career is busy as ever I am looking for Realtors to train and apprentice in my company. This would give me an outlet to not only grow my business but share my knowledge.
How do you continue to evolve and what is needed to ensure future success?
Through the years there are times when the market is slow. Making a living off 100% commission can be challenging when the market cools down. To help, I have learned to design and remodel homes to sell with the highest quality design and detail. I have also been able to build a portfolio of rentals and Airbnb units. This has been a good outlet to express my creativity.
Adapting to change. - What are some ways in which your business has had to adapt and pivot, and how has that led to success?
I have definitely adapted to the market changes through the years. When I started, many Realtors were leaving the business, and my niche was helping first-time home buyers and investors purchase homes. Then added selling foreclosures for banks as well as selling commercial real estate as well. As the market changed since 2018 and the home prices have risen, I have also started selling more retail homes. Homeowners who are downsizing or looking to upgrade, with the home prices rising this has pushed me more into a higher-end market. Now I feel I have come full circle and no matter which way the market turns, my experience has me prepared.
3.) Why is it important to your organization to support Summerfest through the Summerfest Business Alliance and what are some of the unique ways in which you distribute/use your Summerfest tickets?
I was very excited to be asked to join the SBA. It was my first time and I jumped on the opportunity right away. I have had chances to promote other businesses but none is more local, bigger and organized than Summerfest.
One of the ways I offered the tickets to clients was to ask past clients to review my business on Google and Facebook for free tickets. It went very well for me, and the feedback was awesome.
4.) Favorite Summerfest Memories
I have so many memories attending Summerfest as a child in the huge playground, meeting Bucks legend Vin Baker and getting his autograph. But my best memory is actually working there. I was a ticket taker for the amphitheater concerts, I got to see and work with all the different crowds of people coming for different artists. This was the late 90’s/early 2000’s with artists such as Britney Spears, Prince, and Red Hot Chili Peppers. My memory is so vivid I remember when the RHCP came there was a big thunderstorm and the crowd was wild. And the last time they came about 5 years ago I saw them with a friend and there was another huge storm, an awesome experience.
