Summerfest Business Alliance Member Spotlight
1.) Tell us about your organization, your mission statement, how, when and why your organization was founded, and what you are best known for.
We’ve been voted as “Milwaukee’s Top Jewelry Store” by Journal Sentinel readers and the Milwaukee public for the last 5 years running – and we always look for new ways to exceed expectations. We opened in 2004 and have locations in Greenfield, Brookfield, and downtown Burlington. Our goal is always to offer a family atmosphere with great local service for all jewelry needs. Some places just want to do diamonds, but we cater to all occasions and gemstones. We are known for our great prices on loose diamonds, pre-owned Rolex watches, on-site jewelry repair, and we are home of the $3.99 watch battery. We create one-of-a-kind styles for engagements and anniversaries. While we are experts in designing and creating custom pieces, our stores also carry an extensive selection of leading brands - including Kendra Scott, Pandora, Swarovski, LeVian, Lightbox, Citizen, Lafonn, Movado, Lashbrook, and more! The owner, Dean Murray, has been in the jewelry industry for 32 years total.
2.) Tell us about your organization’s accomplishments and what you’re most proud of.
As a company, we are most proud of our long term employees that can answer any question presented by our customers. Because of this, we have been able to expand our services beyond our main location in Greenfield to two additional stores in Brookfield and downtown Burlington.
3.) How do you impact your community?
Because of our engagement with the community over the years both as a company and with our individual families, we have been able to help out as much as we can through various schools, local churches, silent auctions, golf outings, and more! We donate weekly to a variety of organizations. Like we mentioned earlier, we have long term employees working for us that have lived in the area their whole lives, so we want to always support the organizations and causes that are important to them whenever we can.
4.) Why is it important to your organization to support Summerfest through the Summerfest Business Alliance and what are some of the unique ways in which you distribute your Summerfest tickets?
Summerfest is a hugely positive experience in Milwaukee every single year. It’s a great place to enjoy music, sun, fun, and people. We enjoy supporting Summerfest because it’s local to Milwaukee and has a history of great community; these are the types of organizations we like to partner with. We distribute our Summerfest tickets through giveaways to our loyal customers in-store and on our Facebook page. We love hearing about our customers’ memories of past Summerfest years and what they are looking forward to seeing this year through our giveaways. Customers then are able to pick up their tickets at our Greenfield location prior to heading down to the Summerfest grounds.
5.) When was the first time you attended Summerfest? What is your favorite Summerfest memory? Which artist would you love to see on a Summerfest stage?
Dean Murray (owner of The Jewelry Center) and his wife, Jeanie, have been going to Summerfest yearly for as long as they can remember. Dean and Jeanie are a family of music and as parents of 20-30 year olds, the memories they have made together at Summerfest are too many to mention! Their family and friends go each year to the main stage or just to walk around and listen to all of the different artists as you pass from one pavilion to another.
Mackenzie Murray (Dean’s daughter) also works at The Jewelry Center on our marketing team. She has enjoyed going to Summerfest each year with friends and family to enjoy all types of genres of music. Her favorite is always the country stages, and has loved being able to see artists such as Billy Currington and Kip Moore on the side stages! She is looking forward to making many more memories there soon!
Rachael Kelnhofer is part of The Jewelry Center’s marketing team as well. She first attended Summerfest over 10 years ago. Rachael’s husband, Joe, also works for The Jewelry Center and she has enjoyed seeing his band, Versio Curs, play at a side stage near the lake. One of Rachael and Joe’s more recent memories is being offered free VIP tickets to watch the T-Pain concert from the Harley Deck just minutes before the concert was about to start. They both would love to see Dua Lipa on a Summerfest stage!
