Three-pair collection merges culture, music and wearable innovation, with embedded Summerfest ticket access in every pair
MILWAUKEE (March 18, 2026) – Flavor isn’t something you add. It’s something you are.
Today, Shake James, Summerfest and Visit Milwaukee are coming together as creative collaborators to unveil a tech-integrated 2026 Adidas capsule collection that captures the rhythm, flavor and forward momentum of Milwaukee right now.
The collaboration was officially announced at SXSW in Austin, Texas, as SXSW partner programming, operated under license from SXSW, LLC, bringing Milwaukee’s Flavor Era to one of the world’s most influential stages for music, culture and innovation. The collection goes on sale at the grand re-opening of Sneex (1320 E. Brady St., Milwaukee) and online at clickskicks.net on Saturday, April 11.
Rooted in community, culture and creativity, Shake James is a revered Milwaukee entrepreneur and lifelong sneakerhead. He founded Clicks and Sneex, the city’s influential streetwear and sneaker boutique, and has built a legacy that bridges fashion, philanthropy and youth empowerment through initiatives like Jay Academy. His longstanding relationship with Adidas has consistently spotlighted Milwaukee’s identity while creating meaningful access and opportunity through design.
“This collaboration is about showing the world what Milwaukee really is,” said Shake James, founder and philanthropist. “We’re not following culture. We’re shaping it. To merge design, technology and Summerfest access into something people can actually wear is powerful. It’s Milwaukee on your feet and on the global stage.”
A nationally recognized contemporary artist and designer of the capsule collection, Alexander-John is known for his bold visual language that blends abstraction, portraiture and layered cultural symbolism. His work has been exhibited and collected across the country, and he has collaborated with influential figures across music and culture, creating artwork connected to artists such as the late Nipsey Hussle, Big Sean and Royce da 5’9”. His practice consistently bridges fine art, street culture and storytelling, making him a natural creative partner for a project rooted in identity and place.
“Everything I create is rooted in story,” said Alexander-John. “The materials, the symbolism, the tech integration. Embedding festival access into the product itself pushes this beyond fashion. It becomes experience.”
Built around two distinct designs, the capsule moves beyond footwear into storytelling. Each pair reflects a different expression of the city’s identity, blending legacy, remix and next-wave creativity into a wearable statement.
“VIEW FINDER” Adidas Samba
The “VIEW FINDER” Samba captures Milwaukee in full perspective. A detailed map of the city wraps across four sides of the shoe, honoring the 191 neighborhoods, streets and communities that give Milwaukee its pulse, while the clear window on the tongue of the shoe acts as a viewfinder for each person wearing the shoes, enhancing the experience.
The cream color nods to the city’s Cream City heritage, while bead-like moccasin detailing acknowledges Indigenous communities whose influence remains foundational to the region.
This pair celebrates place. It’s about knowing the ground you stand on and honoring the layers beneath it.
W.T.M. Adidas Forum “What The Milwaukee”
The W.T.M. Forum brings Milwaukee’s contrasts into conversation, while also incorporating Shake’s previous Adidas sneaker releases into this design. Each panel and material choice reflects a curated piece of the city’s flavor, from food traditions and iconic locations to music history and creative energy.
The left and right shoes are intentionally mismatched, symbolizing a city that thrives on duality. Industrial and artistic. Underground and global. Legacy and next wave.
Milwaukee doesn’t fit into one definition. Neither does this design.
Embedded Summerfest Ticket Access
Every pair in the 2026 capsule includes a custom hangtag featuring a scannable NFC chip. With a single tap, owners unlock one general admission ticket to Summerfest 2026, valid for any of the nine days (June 18-20, 25-27, July 2-4).
The technology transforms the sneaker into entry. Street meets stage. Style meets sound. Travel meets culture in one seamless experience.
“Summerfest has always been about access to live music and unforgettable moments,” said Jerrod Woods, senior director of marketing at Summerfest. “Integrating a general admission ticket directly into this capsule is an innovative and tangible way to connect fans to the festival from across the world with Milwaukee’s broader creative community.”
By embedding festival entry directly into every pair, the collaboration creates a first-of-its-kind bridge between fashion, destination and live music.
“This collaboration captures exactly what the Flavor Era represents,” said Josh Albrecht, Chief Marketing Officer at Visit Milwaukee. “Milwaukee is confident in who it is, and we’re not waiting for permission to tell that story. Bringing this launch to SXSW and embedding Summerfest access into every pair shows how culture, innovation and destination storytelling can move together. This is how Milwaukee shows up on a global stage.” For Visit Milwaukee, this collaboration marks the beginning of the next evolution of its marketing campaigns across all platforms and audiences.
Together, the designs tell the story of a city that doesn’t imitate culture. It authors it. Flavor lives in the details. In craftsmanship. In sound. In the way legacy and innovation share the same stage.
Shake James, Summerfest and Visit Milwaukee present this capsule as both statement and invitation. A study in place. A fusion of fashion and festival. A reminder that the most compelling style always comes from somewhere real.
Milwaukee’s Flavor Era has arrived, and now it travels.
