In addition to producing Summerfest presented by American Family Insurance, Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. maintains and develops the 75-acre lakefront parcel known as Henry Maier Festival Park, leasing the parcel from the City of Milwaukee through the year 2030, and hosting a variety of ethnic and cultural festivals, walks, runs, concerts and other events along with approximately 1.5 million patrons each year at the site.


Staff Accountant

Summary

Assist with the management of the accounts payable and payroll functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Process accounts payable for two companies, includes checks, wires, and ACH payments. Support the Senior Staff Accountant with the processing of payroll.

  • Maintain AP vendor files for accuracy, 1099 and 1042 compliance, and WT-11 reporting.
  • Generate 1099-MISC, W-2G and 1042-S tax documents for year-end compliance.
  • Monitor purchase order transactions for timely processing and accuracy on a company-wide basis.
  • Create and expedite utility, insurance and employee reimbursement payments.
  • Facilitate the accurate processing of over 600 entertainment contracts and payments.
  • Process cash receipts on a weekly basis.
  • Manage the use of corporate credit cards and reconcile purchases for general ledger entry.
  • Assist with account reconciliation on a monthly basis for reporting and year-end audit.
  • Assist with year end W-2 processing.
  • Assist with maintaining child support/garnishment records, employee wage verification and unemployment verification.
  • Assist with maintaining paycard inventory and paycard registrations.
  • Provide back up to Senior Staff Accountant of payroll processing.
  • Participate in strategic planning process.

  • Work with other departments in implementing contingency, continuity and recovery plans.

Education, Experience and Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience required in Accounts Payable and Payroll environment.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Ability to resolve complex customer service and conflict management issues.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage various projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills.
  • Functional knowledge of the special event business.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Education and/or Experience

  • Associate’s Degree or higher in Accounting or related field.

Computer Skills  

  • To perform the job successfully, an individual should have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP preferred but not required.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret company policies, budgets, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Foreign language skills are a plus.

Physical Requirements

Food and Beverage Grounds Venue Manager

Summary

Assists management with all aspects of efficient food and beverage operations for the Company’s food and beverage locations.

  • Works closely with Food and Beverage General Manager and Assistant General Manager on all aspects of the Company’s food and beverage operation.
  • Oversees and monitors the site-wide set up of the food and beverage operation.
  • Provides effective supervision and direction to food and beverage managers and employees.
  • Performs various human resources and payroll functions.
  • Ensure high quality standards and prompt service for all guests.
  • Have complete menu and operational knowledge of all food and beverage areas.
  • Ensures all health and safety regulations are in compliance with state, local, federal and Company specifications.
  • Oversees the accurate completion of inventory paperwork.
  • Participate in development of food and beverage programs.
  • Assist with maintaining department budgets.
  • Follows all of Company’s policies and procedures, including employee compliance with safe alcohol service.
  • Immediately responds to any alcohol related concerns; contact supervisor if assistance is needed.
  • Monitors employee compliance with food safety regulations in accordance with all local, state, federal and Company regulations.
  • Serves as resource for guest requests, questions, and concerns; reach out to supervisor/Guest Services for assistance, as necessary.
  • Participates in pre and post festival food and beverage meetings and relays any building safety issues and maintenance needs to appropriate department or supervisor.

Operations Administration & Personnel Manager

Summary

This position is responsible for the personnel and administrative functions of a department that cleans and maintains a 75-acre permanent venue for both Summerfest and various other events and activities. Several seasonal, part-time employees are under the purview of the Manager, including administrative and time clock support. This position is critical to the department and organization because the comfort, cleanliness, and safety of guests is paramount to the success of guest service-driven events held at the venue.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Recruiting, scheduling, hiring, training and retention of a group of seasonal employees, as well as managing the payroll, and administrative functions of the department. This position requires collaboration with other departments to advance these duties by providing support for MWF’s day-to-day operations and all events held at the venue.

  • Plan and establish work schedules and assignments to meet grounds maintenance for the park and events, while monitoring the department’s payroll budget.
  • Cultivate and strengthen Milwaukee community relationships regarding the recruiting, hiring and mentoring of youth in partnerships with the Mayor of Milwaukee and other non-profit organizations.
  • Responsible for the majority of recruiting, interviewing, selection, orienting, assigning, training, retention and scheduling of seasonal employees to meet service and budget expectations.
  • Responsible for developing seasonal crew job descriptions and assist with necessary training.
  • Assist Facility Operations & Maintenance team with department’s employee orientations and materials, meeting planning, and the development of policies and procedures for both supervisors and front-line employees.
  • Personnel disciplinary duties include corrective action forms, and incident reports.
  • Confidential oversight of a formal evaluation process for all seasonal personnel.
  • Manage and maintain department and personnel records.
  • Oversee timeclock and payroll administration functions.
  • Oversee the ordering and distribution of staff uniforms.
  • Administrative lead related to repair and maintenance tracking (work orders), invoice processing, annual inspections and maintenance tracking, equipment rental, and purchasing.
  • Develop and foster good employee relations, including using sensitivity, generational, safety and other necessary training.
  • Ensure calls for service are addressed in a timely and professional manner.
